Fields of application
Like many other rare earths, this element is used to manufacture permanent magnets. Magnets with an alloy of samarium and cobalt are characterized by a high temperature resistance of up to 300 degrees and for this reason are perfect for generators and drying ovens, among others. Another field of application is as an absorber material for thermal neutrons in nuclear technology. It is used in chemical catalysis and cancer therapy, as well as optical glasses and laser technology.
