The raw materials supplier is a new member of the international industry association, which is committed to creating a safe and innovative rare earth industry.
On 1 March 2023, the internationally active raw materials supplier TRADIUM GmbH joined the industry association Rare Earth Industry Association (REIA). The initiative pools global commitment and expertise from industry, politics and science and aims to create the conditions for an innovative rare earth industry of the future. The network currently consists of more than 70 partners from countries such as the UK, Germany, France, China, Japan, the USA and Canada.
TRADIUM, which is based in Germany, specialises in supplying industry with strategic raw materials such as Rare earths, Technology metals and Precious metals specialised. For over 20 years, it has been supplying metals to companies from a wide range of sectors such as the glass, ceramics, automotive, electronics and lighting industries. TRADIUM therefore has excellent knowledge of the market.
Matthias Rüth, Managing Director of TRADIUM: "Becoming a member of the renowned REIA is an important step for us. The secure supply of strategic raw materials such as rare earths to industry is currently one of the biggest challenges. The metals are of crucial importance for renewable and low-CO2 technologies. Through our membership, we want to help all players along the supply chains to network better and exchange information. We also want to contribute to a better understanding of the rare earth value chain."
Dr Badrinath Veluri, President of REIA, emphasises that "with TRADIUM, a company has joined REIA as a member that has known the market and its dynamics in the specialty metals sector for decades. This will bring new energy and valuable information to both upstream and downstream REIA members as well as our external stakeholders."
The rare earth industry brings together different companies: Raw material producers, refinery operators, processing companies and recyclers. Raw material suppliers such as TRADIUM act as a link. With REIA, all companies involved are connected in a strong network and also have access to new findings from research and development. This is the key to stability and innovation along the supply chain.
About REIA
REIA, a non-profit organisation, is the only global association dedicated to the rare earth elements (REE) industry. REIA was founded in 2019 and is growing rapidly. Today, the association has around 50 members from all over the world, representing the most important players in the entire rare earth value chain as well as policy makers, research institutes and scientists.
Our main mission is to promote and support a sustainable, responsible, collaborative and transparent REE value chain and the use of rare earths in appropriate applications. To this end, we are currently developing a framework and guidelines to help standardise ESG reporting that is accepted by all stakeholders, both upstream and downstream.
We offer our members a platform where they can network and create benchmarks to make their voices heard by policy makers, regulators and key stakeholders, find potential partners and access data, information and best practices to share and make their commitment to a more sustainable supply chain visible. They can also access and share data, information and best practices, and visualise their commitment to a more sustainable supply chain.
