In a guest article published in the August issue of Cash-Magazin, Jan Giese, Head of Sales & Trading, examines the supply situation for rare earths against the backdrop of geopolitics and security of supply.
He explains why, in addition to new mines, expanding processing capacity outside China is crucial. Giese also highlights the role of raw materials trading in linking producers, recycling companies and industrial users, as well as in developing new supply chains. Until these diversification efforts bring about lasting change in the market, however, China will remain the dominant player.
