In December 2024, China banned the export of critical raw materials such as gallium and germanium to the USA. This applies to both direct exports and purchases via third parties. In fact, however, the People's Republic has been withholding deliveries of the two metals to the USA since 2023. This development is also putting massive pressure on global supply chains.
