Tellurium is a soft, brittle and silver-white shining metal. Then again it is stable and whether dissolves in water nor in hydrochloric acid. In nature, tellurium mainly occurs together with gold, silver, lead and copper.
The main application field of pure tellurium is the manufacture of cadmium telluride used in the solar sector. Furthermore, tellurium is used in copper and lead alloys as well as in thermocouples and rewritable storage media, such as CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs.
