Silvery-white as a metal; dark brown as praseodymium oxide
It is a soft and easily malleable metal with a high chemical activity that forms an oxide layer when exposed to air.
It is needed for the manufacture of permanent magnets as well as for producing superconducting materials. Praseodymium is processed for coloring glass and enamel and is applied in the manufacture of magnesium alloys for the aircraft industry. Moreover, it is used for the UV absorption in eye protective glasses.
