Rhodium is a silvery-white, high-glossy and hard metal. It is harder than gold or platinum, but tough and elastic and can be processed by hammering. Rhodium has the highest thermal and electrical conductivity of all platinum group metals. It is considered as an extremely inert metal.
Rhodium is used for the chemical transformation of harmful nitrogen-oxides in exhaust gas catalysts. Besides, it is used for catalytic reactions in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry. Rhodium is also applied as coatings for jewelry, eyeglass frames or watches. It is an essential part of platinum-alloys that are used for high-temperature-resistant components in the glass industry.
